We’re pleased to release the BC Wine Grape Industry Task Force’s Year One Impact Summary. It was an exciting year, with collaboration and community-building as key pillars as we built upon our Year 1 strategic plan and moved from concept to active collaboration. Six Working Groups were established across Business Economics, Climate Resilience, Data Strategy, Market Development, Organizational Alignment, and Long-Term Strategy, bringing together 56 Working Group members, 16 Advisory Committee members, 60 community participants, and 7 government liaisons from five primary wine and grape associations.
Five Requests for Proposals were published by March 31, 2026. Deloitte was engaged to lead the industry’s Long-Term Strategy, and BCAFE co-funding of $49,000 was secured for the Market Development Working Group, leveraging a $21,000 WGITF contribution. The dual-track model delivering short-term Community of Practice assets alongside longer-horizon research and strategy projects allowed the sector to make tangible progress while laying the groundwork for lasting change.
Year 2 will shift from planning to delivery. Contractors are being selected across all six Working Groups, the Deloitte Long-Term Strategy moves into its Assessment and Alignment phases, and the first project outputs will reach growers and wineries.
