May Industry Update

As the Task Force continues to advance projects that support the long-term sustainability and prosperity of BC’s wine grape sector, we want to ensure industry members stay informed, connected, and aware of opportunities to get involved.

Each month, we’ll share progress updates from our working groups, highlight key milestones, and provide information about upcoming engagement opportunities. Whether you’re a grapegrower, winery owner, winery professional, industry association member, supplier, or service provider, these updates are designed to help you understand the work underway and how it may impact the future of our industry and support your business.

We encourage you to share this newsletter with colleagues and industry peers who may not yet be familiar with the Task Force. The more voices engaged in these conversations, the stronger and more representative our collective efforts will be.

Please check this website regularly for the latest information, project updates, and resources.

Industry Events & Meetings

It has been a busy few months for the Program Delivery Team, with attendance at the Southern Interior Horticulture Show, Wine Growers BC Insight Conference, Wine Island Growers’ Association AGM, BC Tourism Industry Conference, and the Wine and Viticulture Research Symposium. Since February of this year, WGITF has also facilitated 21 Working Group meetings, 3 Advisory Committee Meetings and 2 Communications Committee Meetings.

A WGITF delegation including representatives from all industry associations also attended a roundtable with The Honourable Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture and Food, to provide an update on the task force and its progress to date.

Long-Term Industry Strategy

In March 2026, the BC Wine Grape Industry Task Force (WGITF) announced Deloitte as the successful partner to develop a Long-Term Industry Strategy to support the resilience, sustainability, and long-term prosperity of BC’s wine and grape sector.

Over the coming months, there will be several opportunities for industry members to engage as the strategy develops. Insights and input from across the province will ensure that the final strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of BC’s diverse wine and grape sector. Stay tuned to this space for updates on engagement opportunities and click here to read the Deloitte announcement.
